We're off this week but I'll be at the Baltimore Grand-Prix on Saturday for the American Le Mans race so maybe I'll get some good video of that although it won't be from inside a car.

Figured I'd give you guys an update. I finished the season in 8th place in points after missing 2 races at the beginning of the year while the car was getting straightened back out and missing a feature after the ignition failed waiting to go out onto the track. I had (heats and features combined) 9 top 5's, 16 top 10's, average finish of 6th and a best feature finish of 3rd. Not too bad for switching to a new class with an under-powered car (this will change over the winter).

For those of you who remember my old race car which I won a championship with last year, I hung onto that car after switching classes just for the race I ran with it today. It was a 75 lap enduro race on a 4/10 mile dirt track. The old car held together for me and I won my class, netting a nice $500 for it. I had my GoPro camera in the car for the race recording so once I get that all together I'll post the videos on here for everyone.

As promised (make sure to watch in HD): youtu.be/FRP7MqrmExU?hd=1See if you can identify the flying object. P.S. The first person who makes fun of me spinning on the last lap will be banned ;D Easier to make fun of someone when you haven't done it lol. The first time I practiced my car I had rented the track and I spun out twice. My first race day practice I spun out getting into turn 1 and a little later slapped the wall coming off of 2. The 2nd race I ran I spun out getting into 1 during the race. The funny thing is it seemed like I was sucking, but then track champs are coming up telling me your doing a good job.

My first race in the new car ended after 2 laps behind the tow truck. 2 trips to the body shop's frame rack and it was ready to go again. I just stayed out of the way for the first few races until I got comfortable in that car, then I started running decent against the rest of the field. What I've noticed is respect on the track goes a long way, if you give room, hold your line and don't make dumb decisions, you can earn that respect pretty quickly. We were pitted 2 spots away from the eventual champion this year and I heard numerous times from him that I was doing a good job out there. It's always good to hear that from guys who have been doing this for years.

My first race I got pushed around under pace laps just to get credit for being there lol. After practice came in and went to the scales. On the way back to the pit the car started sputtering. We were so busy trying to get the car set back up straight when I tried to go back out the car started and then stopped. Thought it was the carb so changed carbs and nothing. Then we figured it was the fuel pump and couldn't track another one like it down at the track. So even though I didn't get to run it pushed the car on the grid to get money back lol. Ended up we changed the pump and still nothing it was the pickup tube in the cell had twisted and come out of the fuel. The first race I actually got to run was a set of twins that night and managed 8th and 9th. The last race I ran this season a piece of rubber came up and flung my power steering belt off and I ended up finishing 13th. 1st race that I actually got to race I went a lap down and the 2nd race I stayed on the lead lap which surprised alot of people. This was the first time I had every raced anything. Yeah it does mean alot though when people who have been at it awhile with success tell you your doing well. One guy who has won numerous championships in Late models and mods along with races at multiple tracks plus the big Martinsville late model race came up to my mom and told her "Your boy looks pretty good, I think he's going to be ok" That surprised me and was like I was like wow.

At least you were able to be pushed around to get some money for taking the green. One night my ignition failed while sitting in the staging area waiting to go out onto the track for the feature. Other than that, the car ran fairly well every week minus an overheating issue that we never figured out. What are the rules in your class on engines? Just curious.

350 that can be bored .060 over, 70cc heads, steel intake,no modifications with a 2 barrel Rochester carb a little modification allowed on it, .410 lift rule, crank is suppose to weight 50lbs. That's pretty much the main stuff anyway.

Obviously I also meant cast-iron intake.

Sounds similar to ours, 365ci max, iron heads and intake, stock oem bottom end, 4 barrel carb and a dumb vacuum rule for the cam. We also are allowed to run fuel injection if the car originally came with it as mine did. The rules in regards to that aren't very well defined so I'm planning on having a lot of fun with that this winter.
